7C clouds / Hazy sun
Thankfully the forecasters had it wrong, and it was deceptively milder and dry out today. Not the wet day I was expecting.
I wanted to head out early in the morning instead of late afternoon as I knew we would be busy later.
Today's loop took me round the Eastern half of the Island. Godshill - Shanklin - Sandown - Brading - Ryde - Havenstreet - Godshill.
Sandown was interesting as I called in at the quaint little railway station just as a train was passing. It's still odd to think they use ex-London Underground trains here. They look so out of scale out in the open.
I'm starting to recognise locations now with very little map checking required.
Once at Ryde, I cycled out along the wooden planked pier (no toll fee for bikes) trying to avoid getting blown into the sea by the stiff cross-wind. And of course trying to stay below the 10mph speed limit.
From Ryde, it was a couple of decent climbs South then out into countryside again this time with a slight tailwind.
Interesting ride today.
