Arrived at the cottage late afternoon on the Isle of Wight, unpacked and stocked the fridge. Really impressed with the place. Beautiful spot out in the sticks.
Headed out on the bike in early evening sunshine. It had been sunny all day, and the sun was just starting lower on the horizon. The lighting was beautiful, golden with long blue tinted shadows. I also went out in shorts for the first time in a while. This was just a quick recce ride to explore the lanes.
Impressions so far of cycling on the Island.
- Traffic (what there is of it) is slow moving
- Drivers are courteous
- Tarmac is smooth
I think the locals must have been out with brooms sweeping the lanes. The smooth tarmac felt oddly flint/stone chipping free. I could get used to this.
