Day 4 : 25.5 miles - Aldermaston

1°C grey and very windy.

I was working from home again today so opted for a late afternoon ride. The weather had been very wintry today with it blowing a gale with quite thick snow flurries all day long. Horizontal cocaine I'd call it. Hard to believe it's April. I think I would be horrified if I looked back to April 4th last year.

The moment I set off the snow thinned (much to the disappointment of those splendid guys over at @30daysbiking who I think were expecting some decent snow pics).

I headed out the scenic route to Aldermaston. A very pretty little village which is unfortunately associated with AWE (Atomic Weapons Establishment) a few miles up the hill. Up until a few years back, we used to see a few remaining peace protesters camped outside the gates.

On the way back, I got stuck at the Kennet and Avon swing bridge canal crossing at Woolhampton waiting for a couple of narrowboats. No cyclist would ever attempt to jump these red lights. Unless of course you're wearing your wellies.

I nice ride despite the cold, thanks to my balaclava. Even the bloody wind didn't seem to bother me on the bike today.
