Working from home today so no commutes. However the car needed dropping into the garage tomorrow for a service, so I put the bike in the back and dropped the car at the Honda garage.
The early evening light was beautiful, so I decided on a ride over Watership Down. It's yet again traffic-free rural lanes all the way, and there are a couple of great climbs on that route. It's the first time I've done the climb on the Compact, and I think it's the quickest I've climbed up there. Here is the view looking North.
It a great time of year to be out, watching the daft lambs bouncing in the fields. Lots of families and walkers out tonight too. Just enjoying the warm evening. It's great to see.
Back though Ecchinswell and I decided to head for Greenham Common. The place has a checkered past (remember the Peace protests?), but it's now open once again as common land. There is also cattle grazing up there and a huge network of off-road tracks. It's a shame they ripped up the runway, as it was once the longest runway in Europe. Never mind eh, at least Newbury got a By-pass from the runway hardcore.
